Fraud by Auto and RV Dealers and Manufacturers
Public Citizen, the leading auto-fraud organization, founded by consumer rights activist, Ralph Nader, projected that new cars sales total 16 million cars annually with even more used car transactions each year. Fraudulent used car and used RV sales practices result in many consumers being swindled each year. Cars are often a consumers’ largest purchase and an RV can cost well over a hundred thousand dollars. Our Chicago Auto and RV dealer fraud lawyers have assisted many defrauded consumers in getting their money back or unwinding a fraudulent sale. We only get paid if we win or successfully settle your case.
Our Chicago consumer protection lawyers have dedicated their careers to helping victims of auto and RV fraud and stopping fraudulent sales practices of auto dealers and auto makers.
Pricing MisinformationMany car dealers will hide the truth or misstate the manufacturers' suggested retail price (MSRP) of a car or RV or will include high profit extras to the car and them in the MSRP. In some cases, consumers are billed separately for extras that are part of items included in the sticker price.

Negative Trade-In ValueNegative trade-in value is a type of dealer fraud which involves the dealer misstating the value of your trade-in. This deception includes telling that you that your trade-in has a greater value than its true value and then adding this extra cost to your new loan. You than have to pay additional sales tax and interest on your latest new or used car purchase.

Fraudulent Certification of Rebuilt Wrecks or Flood Vehicles as Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles That are “Like New”All of the multi-national car makers – Audi, Volkswagen, GM, Toyota, Nissan and Ford have programs called Certified Pre-Owner Vehicles. These used cars are advertised as being special and “like new” having supposedly undergone thorough 172-point inspections. In fact, we have found that the manufacturers delegate the inspection to their used car dealers, some of whom are unethical and meet the negative stereotype of a crooked used car dealer. These dealers deceive consumers along with the manufacturers and certify the vehicles, on behalf of the manufacturers, resulting in handsome profits for the dealers. When the consumers finally realize that their supposedly pristine “certified” cars, trucks our RVs are rebuilt wrecks or flood vehicles they are then victimized a second time. The manufacturers typically refuse to stand behind their own certifications and blame it on the crooked dealer. We have brought suit against the manufacturers to rectify this wrong as it is their name, not the used car dealers’ name that is on the certification. Our Chicago auto fraud lawyers have obtained substantial settlements for our clients victimized by certified used car fraud from the manufacturers or the used car dealers. Our Chicago consumer protection lawyers have decades of experience dealing with all types of used car dealer and car manufacturer scams and frauds.
